La Ferata – abandoned railway line/planet trail
A promenade leads from Selva/Wolkenstein to St. Christina and on to Ortisei/St. Ulrich along the disused track of the former Val Gardena railway. Of course the walk can be undertaken in both directions and the path is kept well groomed in winter.. At St. Christina planet trail has been set up beside the old track which shows the distance of the planets to the sun true to scale. For example it takes approximately 50 minutes to wal from the sun to Pluto and each step corresponds to 1,200,000,000 km in space. Information boards provide interesting facts on each planet.
