Planet Trail Rijswijk

Model of the solar system represented by spheres in the relative size of the planets that are at relative distances from each other. The scale of the mutual distances is 1:150,000,000,000 (1 cm = 150,000 km) and that of the diameter of the planets is 1:1,000,000,000 (1 cm = 1000 km). The smaller spheres are mounted in a wooden pole with the name on it, the larger ones (except Saturn) have the pole next to the sphere. Saturn lies on the ground and the ring is indicated by vowels. The sun is a large round square on the top or hill. The minor planets were near this square (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars), but are now missing. They were still present in 2014, see Planetenpad, Rijswijk on Wikimedia Commons

The planet path is an initiative of the municipality of Rijswijk and is located near the observatory of the Rijswijk Observatory (on the nearby Jupiterflat)

Het planetenpad is een initiatief van de gemeente Rijswijk en ligt vlak bij het observatorium van de Sterrenwacht Rijswijk (op de nabijgelegen Jupiterflat)
